The Irish-American boss, Tom Cullen, gives Rob a job as a cutter, but when Cullen calls him a "Nordsky," Rob replies that although the Scandinavians are a fine race, he happens to be Scottish. Lost Legacy: The Girl Called Hatter Fox VHS $ 29.99 PART INDIAN. PART WHITE. FIGHTING FOR HER... LOST LEGACY. A doctor must battle against superstition and prejudice to try to save a young Indian girl, who has been sent to a state reform school as an incorrigible. Hatter Fox is Marilyn Harris' novel of a seventeen year-old Navajo Indian girl living in New Mexico in the early 1970's. The story is one of isolation, alienation, and finally the redemption that comes when a young doctor befriends Hatter. The doctor has his own personal issues of disappointment and feelings of inadequacy until Hatter enters into his life. The story is taken from the notebooks of Doctor Teague Summer and is based on his notes about a girl named Hatter Fox. Dr. Summer has never met Hatter Fox when he became a doctor at the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1973. His opinion of this notorious girl is based on what he has heard from other people, who seem to blame everything from the bad economy to bad politics on this seventeen-year-old Navajo girl.Dr. Summer soon gets a close up look at Hatter when he is called to the local jail to attend to a boy who has slit his wrists. Dr. Summer sees that the boy is leaning against the back wall of a big jail cell where Hatter Fox stands directing two single-file rows of young inmates in some sort of weird march. The floor of the cell is covered in the wounded boy's blood and Hatter smears some it on her face and clothes as the other young people stop marching to watch her movements. Dr. Summer is allowed into the cell to tend to the wounded boy but the doctor catches Hatter's gaze and immediately feels her knife plunged into his back. The doctor falls to the floor and looks up to see Hatter's smiling face.Dr. Summer spends a few days in the hospital and then visits the jail so that he can see Hatter face to face. The police officers warn Dr. Summer about Hatter's wild demeanor but he proceeds to her cell where he sees her lying stiffly under a blanket. Hatter has refused to put on her prison dress so she lies naked under the rough blanket, staring straight ahead.Hatter refuses to speak to Dr. Summer but chants in a low voice until the doctor tires of this response and leaves. A few days later, Dr. Summer drives to Taos to spend some time with an artist friend while he recovers. Returning home several days later, Dr. Summer receives several letters from the State Reformatory for Girls in Albuquerque asking for his help in the matter of Hatter Fox.

Ponette (1998 DVD) $ 19.99 This DVD is in FRENCH with English subtitles. Rare and out of print only. Producer: Alain Sarde Cast: Delphine Schiltz, Marie Trintignant, Matiaz Bureau Caton, Victoire Thivisol, Xavier Beauvois. A four-year-old girl must come to terms with the loss of her mother and the reality of death in this award-winning French drama. Little Ponette (Victoire Thivisol) is riding in a car with her mother when they're involved in a serious accident; Ponette survives, but her mother does not. Her father (Xavier Beauvois) initially reacts with anger over his late wife's careless driving, while her Aunt Claire (Claire Nebout) tries to comfort the child by telling her about Jesus and the resurrection. However, none of this does much to reassure Ponette or clarify her confusion about the practical realities and spiritual dilemma posed by death. In time, Ponette and her cousins Matiaz (Matiaz Caton) and Delphine (Delphine Schiltz) are sent off to boarding school, where they have to resolve their confusion and loss on their own. Writer and director Jacques Doillon carefully coached Victoire Thivisol (who was too young to read the screenplay) through her performance; the results earned the child Best Actress honors at the 1996 Venice Film Festival.

THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW 1958 DVD $ 9.99 Disney made a wondefull masterpiece that is pitch-perfect to complete your Halloween season. The story stays faithful to the Washington Irving short story and also adds a beautiful touch by having Bing Crosby's soothing voice-over to serenade this classic animated film which show lush touches of autumn colors in the cool, quiet mountain areas of Sleepy Hollow county, New York, in the 1700's. The film uses some voices in it, but is used rarely. It proves even without many voices of characters how colorful they still can be. In a small town named Sleepy Hollow, a gangly schoolteacher named Icabod Crane comes to town. Despite his unattractive appearance, he quickly proves to be a ladies man who charms the local beauty, much to the local tough, Brom Bones', displeasure. A subtle rivalry erupts, only to have Crane continually gaining the upper hand. The situation changes when Brom learns of Crane's superstitions and exploits them as he musically tells the legend of the fearsome Headless Horseman to frighten the teacher. That night, Crane's lonely night ride home becomes more lively than he ever imagined as the Horseman appears to chase him.

The Three Caballeros (1945) VHS $ 14.99 Actors: Aurora Miranda, Carmen Molina, Dora Luz, Sterling Holloway, Clarence Nash. Run Time: 72 minutes. As a Disney oddity, they don't get much odder than Three Caballeros. Donald Duck receives a birthday package from South America, and the film proceeds to unravel like some peyote-induced hallucination. It starts out reminiscent of other Disney films, where shorts are cobbled together, such as "Make Mine Music" or "Fun and Fancy Free." The film has vignettes such as "The Cold-Blooded Penguin" and "The Flying Guachito." After them it careens straight into part-travelogue, part-stream-of-consciousness animation. Not helping out much are Donald's "friends," Joe Carioca (a parrot) and Panchito (a rooster). They spend most of the rest of the film watching Donald chase skirt. That's right, Donald Duck is a wolf in this movie, and he chases every live-action señorita who bustles across the screen. Although some will say otherwise, Caballeros is for die-hard Disney, Donald, or psychedelia fans only.
